Pack your bags - Melbourne's best weekend escapes

In the hustle and bustle of our busy lives, we often find ourselves caught up in the whirlwind of daily routines, leaving little time to appreciate the beauty of our surroundings.

The restorative power of slowing down and escaping to nature's embrace is something we really believe in at ATKM - and why we create products with travel and leisure in mind. So we thought we’d compile a list of our favourite Melbourne spots to help you explore these wonderful communities and the local industries we support.

1. Phillip Island

Just a short drive from Melbourne, Phillip Island awaits with its natural wonders and charming delights. The Nobbies Reserve offers a chance to witness adorable penguins and playful seals, a spectacle that will warm your heart. For a serene and tranquil swim, head to the beaches along Cowes and Ventnor. Stop in at the Churchill Farmer's Market to pick up some of the best local produce from the island and Gippsland region. Don't forget to drop by G’day Tiger in Cowes, a local gem renowned for its popular coffee, and indulge in a caffeine experience like no other.

2. Mornington Peninsula

Embrace the coastal elegance of the Mornington Peninsula, a true paradise just outside Melbourne. Immerse yourself in the soothing waters at the Peninsula Hot Springs or Alba spa and wash away the woes of the world.

3. Dandenong Ranges

Explore Ferntree Gully, where lush greenery and nature's wonders will leave you in awe. (Fun fact: our workshop is located just a short drive away from here) Hop aboard the Puffing Billy Railway for a charming journey back in time through picturesque landscapes. A small trip to the Redwood Forest in East Warburton will make you feel like you're in a fairytale. Round off your day with dinner at Olinda Tea House to enjoy delicious Asian fusion cuisine amidst the serene beauty of its garden.

4. Daylesford

A perfect retreat for serenity seekers, Daylesford's allure lies in its calming waters and scenic surroundings. Stroll along the tranquil Daylesford Lake, perfect for a leisurely walk or a refreshing swim on a warm day. Venture to nearby Mount Franklin, a former volcano where camping in the heart of nature is an unforgettable experience.

5. Torquay/Lorne

For the adventure lovers seeking a touch of luxury, Torquay and Lorne have it all. Wander through the treetops at Otways National Park, offering a unique perspective of the stunning surroundings. Visit the magnificent Erskine Falls, a spectacle of nature's grandeur. And while you're in the area, don't miss the chance to see the iconic lighthouse from the beloved Round the Twist series at Aireys Inlet.

So pack your bags and get adventuring!
